Brian Behlendorf
CTO, World Economic ForumBrian Behlendorf was a primary developer of the Apache Web server, the most popular Web server software on the Internet, and a founding member of the Apache Group, which later became the Apache Software Foundation.He served as President of the Foundation for three years, and remains on its Board of Directors.
Currently, Brian is the Chief Technology Officer at the World Economic Forum. Prior to this he served in the Obama White House with the Open Government Initiative of the US Department of Health and Human Services, where he led implementation of open source platform and standards for exchange of electronic healthcare records.
In the past, Brian was also the founder and CTO of CollabNet, the company that provides tools and services based on open source methods. And before launching CollabNet, Brian was co-founder and CTO of Organic Online, a Web design and engineering consultancy company. During his five years at Organic, he helped create Internet strategies for dozens of Fortune 500 companies. During that time, he co-founded and contributed heavily to the Apache Web Server Project, co-founded and supported the VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) effort, and assisted several IETF working groups, particularly the HTTP standardization effort. Before starting Organic, Brian was the first Chief Engineer at Wired Magazine and later HotWired, one of the first large-scale publishing Web sites.
Brian is currently a Director of the Mozilla Foundation. In January 2006, Brian was named a Young Global Leader by the Forum of Young Global Leaders, an affiliate of the World Economic Forum.
