Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Colombo, Sri Lanka and Mountain View, CA – November 12, 2007 – WSO2, the open source SOA company, announced today that Subbu Iyer has joined the company as vice president of business development. He brings 15 years of proven success in driving the delivery and adoption of open source and infrastructure software through product management, marketing and strategic partnerships.

Iyer most recently served as vice president of worldwide marketing and business development for open source telecommunications software company OpenClovis Inc. At WSO2, he will spearhead the partnership and alliances program, expand the WSO2 training program, cultivate named accounts in priority vertical markets, and build the company’s business in the Americas. Iyer will also be responsible for WSO2’s product marketing, helping to define new offerings and create go-to-market strategies. Iyer will lead these initiatives from WSO2’s Silicon Valley office in Mountain View, CA.

“Subbu is an invaluable addition to the team. He brings, not only a deep understanding of enterprise developers and the demands they face, but also an impressive track record in building markets for infrastructure software,” said Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, CEO of WSO2. “We’re excited to tap his talents in advancing market adoption of our open source solutions, which are helping to rewrite the rules for building service-oriented architectures.”

“In order to support the dynamic and global interactions of today’s businesses, enterprise applications are evolving to become much more loosely coupled and distributed,” said Subbu Iyer. “WSO2, which is led by some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry, is squarely positioned for this market with its ground-breaking, open source approach to SOA. It’s a thrill to be a part of this dynamic team in redefining the developer experience.”

Before joining OpenClovis, Iyer was the director of product management at VERITAS Software (acquired by Symantec) where he directed worldwide planning, strategy and vision for high availability and storage management products. Prior to VERITAS, Iyer was a successful entrepreneur as founder and CEO of Oisin Systems (acquired by iManage, later Interwoven), a provider of software solutions to the enterprise management software industry.

Earlier in his career, Iyer held a variety of roles at Oracle, including technology evangelism, sales, business development and engineering. Iyer holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and an MS in engineering from Louisiana State University. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Bombay.
