Monday, November 24th, 2008

[ November 24, 2008 12:00 am to December 18, 2008 12:00 am. ] SOA is a popular approach to enterprise architecture because it can improve IT flexibility, allowing a business to quickly adapt to changes. However, many specifications and implementations of “SOA solutions” are available making it somewhat difficult to figure what you really need (and what you don’t) to build and manage an SOA. WSO2 is [...]

WSO2 promotes Jonathan Marsh to VP of Business Development and Devaka Randeniya to Director of Business Development

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Mountain View, CA – November 20, 2008 – WSO2, the open source SOA company, today announced two promotions. Jonathan Marsh, formerly director of mashup technologies, has been named vice president of business development. Devaka Randeniya, previously business development manager, has been promoted to director of business development.

Jonathan has played a strategic role in contributing to WSO2’s business development efforts this year, most notably through his involvement in the joint interoperability efforts between Microsoft and WSO2. WSO2-enabled interoperability across Microsoft .NET and other Web service platforms was first highlighted in the StockTrader demo as part of the Microsoft Tech-Ed keynote by Bob Muglia, senior vice president of the Server and Tools Business at Microsoft, in June 2008.

In his role as vice president of business development, Jonathan will spearhead global expansion of the company’s strategic partnerships and named accounts in key vertical markets, as well as continue to lead WSO2’s interoperability initiatives with Microsoft. As director of business development, Devaka will manage business development program operations.

“Jonathan and Devaka have been instrumental in addressing the real-world needs of our customers’ SOAs—directly and through strategic partnerships,” said Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, founder and CEO of WSO2. “We look forward to them building on this success and extending our commitment to providing enterprise customers with unmatched solutions for successfully implementing their SOAs.”

SOA for the people: SOA World session discusses how social governance brings viability to Web 2.0 for the enterprise

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Mountain View, CA – November 19, 2008 – SOA brings together people, not just software. That’s why integrating Web 2.0 concepts into a SOA—such as comments, feeds, ratings, tags, and automatic search alerts—holds so much promise for breaking down business silos and enabling many people to work together for the first time.

However, the unfettered communications associated with consumer Web 2.0 also need to be more controlled once they move into an enterprise SOA. IT professionals require social governance that balances the agility enabled by Web 2.0 capabilities with adherence to policies, visibility into changes, security, and access control.

SOA World: A Social Registry – Bridging Technology and Community for SOA

WSO2, the open source SOA company, will present a session at the SOAWorld 2008 Conference and Expo to demonstrate how adding a layer of Web 2.0 capabilities to an SOA infrastructure provides fertile ground to help grow a vibrant and connected community of developers, businesspeople, and technologists. Attendees also will learn how a social registry/repository can enable both grass-roots development and CIO-pleasing governance, all with standard REST interfaces.
When: Friday, November 21, 9:10-9:55 a.m.
Where: SOAWorld 2008, Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, CA
Presenter: Glen Daniels, WSO2 director of Java Platforms

Glen Daniels is the WSO2 director of Java platforms and the project lead for the WSO2 Registry. Glen is also a vice president of the Apache Software Foundation where he spearheaded the redesign of Apache SOAP, led the creation of Apache Axis, and has contributed significantly to Apache Axis2 and Synapse.

WSO2, an SOA World sponsor and exhibitor, will demonstrate its WSO2 Registry at the show, November 20-21, 2008. The WSO2 Registry is the first registry/repository built around the concept of social governance—combining run-time governance and policy enforcement with the ability to rate, tag, comment on, and receive alerts for the Web services being managed. The SOAWorld 2008 Conference and Expo runs November 19-21, 2008, at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA.
