Paul Fremantle and Samisa Abeysinghe to speak at ApacheCon EU 2008
Paul Fremantle, CTO at WSO2 will be presenting two talks at ApacheCon EU this year, along with Samisa Abeysinghe, Director of Engineering, WSO2.
ApacheCon is a week of open source goodness straight from the source of the Apache Software Foundation, featuring 15 intense training classes over two days followed by three days of more than 50 sessions by the creators of open source software such as the Apache webserver, Tomcat, Apache Axi2 and more.
Paul Fremantle's first presentaion on the 10th of April will be on "High-speed SOA with Apache Synapse". Apache Synapse is a lightweight ESB from Apache that offers industry leading SOA performance. In this talk you can catch up on the latest from this project and find out how to build simple, effective and fast SOA integration. Paul will cover topics such as the NIO HTTP support, VFS, integration with other Apache projects including ODE and BSF.
This talk will be followed by a presentation on the myths, facts and lies surrounding the debate on REST vs. WS-*. In this talk, Paul will address the concepts behind the REST architecture and the Web Services standards, and look at the current hype, truth and myths around these areas. Taking a balanced view of the two technologies - perhaps a first! - Paul will help you decide when and where to apply the different approaches.
Also on the 10th of April, Samisa Abesinghe will be presenting on "How users can help a project". With Open source now in the mainstream and many enterprises using open source projects, the number of users have exponentially grown. However not all these new users may know how exactly to deal with an open source project. They may be interested in how to use open source in a way that gives something back to the project as well. This session looks into how users can help a project, not by becoming a developer, but as an user. Discover with Samisa how simple user norms could help a project become a success!
You can meet up with Paul and Samisa at the WSO2 Booth at the ApacheCon EU Expo, where the WSO2 Oxygen Tank developer portal is a community partner.
ApacheCon EU will be held on 7-11 April 2008, at Mövenpick Hotel in Amsterdam. For additional information and to register visit http://www.eu.apachecon.com.
