WSO2 Brings Workshop on Integration Best Practices to Auckland

Hands-on technical workshop will explore how IT professionals can employ an ESB model and API management for effective enterprise application integration

Palo Alto, CA – October 14, 2013 – Service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles, a flexible enterprise service bus (ESB), and managed APIs are central to optimizing enterprise application integration (EAI) implementations. In a half-day hands-on workshop for IT architects and developers, WSO2 will demonstrate how to successfully implement a service broker pattern for connectivity, mediation, process orchestration, and security with an ESB model, as well as how to extend and SOA through API management.

Entitled “WSO2 Integration Platform Discovery,” the workshop is being held from 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Auckland, New Zealand. Visit https://wso2.com/events/workshops/2013-october-auckland-wso2-integration-platform-discovery-workshop for more information.

The Role of an ESB and API Management within an SOA

The workshop is designed for IT architects and developers seeking to obtain a high-level architectural understanding of how ESBs fit within an SOA. It will explore how enterprises can connect, mediate, orchestrate and manage interactions between application integration consumers and providers using WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus in conjunction with other components of the WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware platform. Additionally, the session will examine how API management can help govern APIs and extend a service-oriented architecture.

Workshop session topics will include:

  • An overview of ESB architecture, the role of an ESB within an SOA, and the benefits of loosely coupled application architectures.
  • Understanding core ESB capabilities, including mediation, transformation, routing, messaging, and support for enterprise integration patterns (EIP).
  • How to expose any data source as a service, including DBMS, NoSQL database, and spreadsheets, using the WSO2 Data Services Server.
  • How to govern and manage enterprise services using the WSO2 Governance Registry.
  • How to leverage API management to enhance API delivery.
