WSO2 Brings Workshops on Implementing an Open PaaS to Brazil

Half-day Workshops in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo Offer IT Professionals Real-world Best Practices for Implementing a Complete Cloud Middleware Platform and SOA Governance Palo Alto, CA – November 1, 2011 – Enterprises increasingly are seeking to run their applications as cloud services to maximize agility and cost-effectiveness. Achieving these goals requires a complete cloud middleware platform or hosted platform-as-a-service (PaaS), which supports the modern best practices that IT professionals have been implementing on-premise. Most notable among these are a service-oriented architecture (SOA) with complete SOA governance, and the development of composite applications and services. Moreover, IT groups need to ensure that data and services can migrate smoothly between on-premise and the cloud as their needs change. WSO2 will hold two workshops in Brazil to provide enterprise architects and software developers with an overview of cloud implementation best practices. The technical workshops also will show attendees how to get started deploying a cloud platform using the 100% open source WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platform and WSO2 StratosLive public PaaS hosted by WSO2. The dynamic half-day technical workshops, entitled “Open PaaS: Understanding the WSO2 Stratos Cloud Platform,” will each run 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. They are being held in: The events are part of WSO2’s global education initiative in November featuring technical workshops in Australia, Brazil, Europe, and North America. “Open PaaS: Understanding the WSO2 Stratos Cloud Platform” The hands-on workshop will provide software architects and developers with an opportunity to understand PaaS, WSO2 Stratos, SOA governance, and enterprise 2.0 concepts. Key topics include:
  • An understanding of PaaS and how it fits into the cloud implementations.
  • A demonstration on how to install and use WSO2 Stratos and WSO2 StratosLive.
  • How to deploy Web applications into WSO2 Stratos.
  • An overview of WSO2 Stratos services.
  • Multi-tenancy models, including the roles of sub-tenants and super-tenants.
  • Other key PaaS characteristics and functions, including elasticity, billing and logs.
  • SOA governance best practices for deploying cloud services.
  • The role of open social gadgets in cloud middleware.
Workshop Presenters In Belo Horizonte, guest speaker Victor Fonseca will lead the workshop. Victor is the architecture consulting leader at Ci&T, and he specializes in SOA and business process management (BPM). In São Paulo, two WSO2 technology experts will lead the workshop.
