WSO2 CTO to Present Session on Securing IoT Solutions at Internet of Things World Forum 2014

Session will examine architectural best practices for building a scalable and secure IoT cloud using open source technologies

Mountain View, CA – November 17, 2014 – The Internet of Things (IoT) is causing the world to move from thousands of connected clients to millions of connected devices. As a result, businesses are moving from a known security perimeter to an almost infinite attack space. WSO2 Co-founder and CTO Paul Fremantle will address the security issues presented by IoT technologies at the Internet of Things World Forum 2014 (IoT World Forum 2014).

WSO2 is a Gold Sponsor of IoT World Forum 2014, which will run November 25–26, 2014 at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington in London.

Building a Resilient, Secure IoT Cloud

Paul’s presentation, “A Reference Architecture for IoT: How to Create a Resilient, Secure IoT Cloud,” will be held 3:55–4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014 in Orchid Hall at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington.

In this session, Paul will discuss how a scalable and secure architecture is critical for ensuring IoT success. He then will examine a reference architecture for building a flexible and secure IoT cloud solution. Additionally, Paul will review how major organizations have effectively implemented these architectural best practices using open source technologies.

Software architects and developers who want to learn more can also read Paul’s white paper, “A Reference Architecture for the Internet of Things.” The paper can be downloaded at https://wso2.com/whitepapers/a-reference-architecture-for-the-internet-of-things.

Integrated Open Source Approach to the Connected Business

The WSO2 booth at IoT World Forum 2014 will feature a demo of one way that the Internet of Things reference architecture can be implemented. Representing two devices functioning intelligently as “connected things,” a Raspberry Pi computer will monitor the temperature and communicate with another to activate a fan; meanwhile WSO2 Enterprise Mobility Manager will monitor both devices.

Additionally, WSO2 experts will be available to discuss the synergistic, integrated approach of WSO2’s 100% open source platforms in addressing the demands of the connected business, including the management and security of IoT devices. Among the solutions are: products from the comprehensive WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware platform, including WSO2 Identity Server, WSO2 Governance Registry, and WSO2 API Manager; WSO2 Enterprise Mobility Manager; and the WSO2 Private PaaS and WSO2 Public Cloud platforms.

Significantly, all WSO2 solutions are built on the same fully componentized, OSGI-compliant code base. As a result, developers can easily deploy and customize any of these WSO2 products and the 175-plus components on which they are comprised, providing greater flexibility and agility to meet changing enterprise demands.
