WSO2 to Present Webinar Series on Optimizing Enterprise Integration Through SOA Deployments Based on an ESB Model

Technical webinars will explore how to take advantage of an ESB model to support enterprise integration, REST services, and SOA deployment using the WSO2 ESB Palo Alto, CA – May 9, 2013 – An effective service-oriented architecture (SOA) deployment relies heavily on an enterprise service bus (ESB), which serves as the backbone for connecting disparate systems based on a range of open standards and proprietary technologies. A new three-part webinar series from WSO2 will examine best practices that IT organizations can adopt to optimize their SOA deployments using an ESB model. The sessions, which run May 16-June 4, will be led by WSO2 technical experts responsible for WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus development, support and implementation services. The webinars include:
  • Enterprise Integration with the WSO2 ESB – An Introduction to the Fundamentals: Thursday, May 16, 2013
  • Enterprise Use Case Webinar – WSO2 ESB Integration with REST: Wednesday, May 29, 2013
  • WSO2 Advantage Webinar – Why the WSO2 ESB Should be Part of Your SOA Infrastructure: Tuesday, June 4, 2013
Each session will run from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. To learn more and register, visit https://wso2.com/landing/wso2-esb-webinar-series. May 16: An Introduction to ESB Fundamentals High volume and the complexity of business requirements lead many organizations to move away from typical monolithic systems and adapt heterogeneous systems adhering to SOA standards. ESB middleware enables interoperability among heterogeneous environments where systems may include any combination of open standards, custom-builds, third-party technologies, or legacy systems. This webinar will explore the features and functions of an ESB, including background, architecture, applicability and benefits. Additionally, the session will examine fundamental enterprise integration patterns and demonstrate how to support them using WSO2 ESB. Jointly presenting the session will be two WSO2 software engineers on the WSO2 integration technologies team: Isuru Udana and Pamod Sylvester. May 29: WSO2 ESB Integration with REST Today, developers can define representational state transfer (REST) APIs in an ESB without writing additional code. However, exposing enterprise applications as RESTful APIs and managing them can present new challenges. This webinar will examine REST APIs, services and architecture; demonstrate a RESTful integration using WSO2 ESB; and examine how to design URL patterns for REST API support in the ESB. It also will examine the relationship between REST and SOAP, as well as introduce API management and OAuth security. Key questions the webinar will seek to address are:
  • What is the proper mechanism to secure a REST service?
  • How can thousands of APIs be managed effectively
  • Is it possible to address the data consumption needs of today?
  • How can existing Web services be integrated following a RESTful style?
Joint presenters Dushan Abeyruwan, WSO2 senior software engineer, and Ravi Unduptiya, WSO2 software engineer, are members of the WSO2 integration technologies team. June 4: Role of WSO2 ESB in an SOA Infrastructure Facilitating interoperability among many heterogeneous software components in an SOA creates the potential for high scalability, high performance and high throughput. At the heart of many of these SOA implementation is an ESB. This webinar will examine architectural advantages of WSO2 ESB. It will review how the mediation engine has gained the ability to handle billions of transactions per day. Additionally, the session will explore how the event-driven asynchronous behavior of the design enables WSO2 ESB to process large loads of messages with very low latency. Other session topics will include:
  • Mediation engine architecture
  • New pass-through transport for ultra fast mediation
  • The flexibility of the WSO2 ESB componentized architecture
  • How WSO2 ESB can be deployed and used in the cloud
Leading the session will be two members of the WSO2 integration team who focus on WSO2 ESB: Ishan Jayawardena and Jeewantha Dharmaparakrama.
