WSO2 to Present Webinar Series on Using WSO2 Stratos 2.0 PaaS Platform to Effectively Deploy Applications in the Cloud

Technical webinars will explore how to take advantage of forthcoming Stratos 2.0 platform to deploy applications in the cloud using both WSO2 middleware and third-party software Palo Alto, CA – February 26, 2013 – Increasingly, enterprises look to deploy applications into the cloud without giving up their favorite development tools or middleware. WSO2 Stratos 2.0, now in beta, has been re-architected to deliver on this demand as the industry’s first foundation for implementing a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) that combines support for heterogeneous applications and service-oriented architecture (SOA) platform runtimes with native, secure multi-tenancy. On February 28, 2013, WSO2 will kick off a three-part webinar series designed to help architects and developers take advantage of the new capabilities in WSO2 Stratos 2.0 to deploy and manage applications in a private or public cloud. The webinar series will explore how enterprises can use WSO2 Stratos 2.0 to bring cloud-native benefits to applications without additional coding, plug third-party software into a fully multi-tenant PaaS, and gain public PaaS efficiencies with StratosLive. The three webinars are:
  • WSO2 Stratos 2.0: Your All-in-One Cloud Platform: Thursday, February 28, 2013
  • Running PHP on Stratos 2.0: Wednesday, March 6, 2013
  • Introducing StratosLive – WSO2’s Open Source Java PaaS: Wednesday, March 13, 2013
Each session will run from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. To learn more and register, visit https://wso2.com/landing/stratos-webinar-series. February 28: WSO2 Stratos 2.0: All-in-One Cloud Platform Answering organizations’ need for effective application deployment in the cloud, WSO2 Stratos 2.0 provides all the expected benefits of a native-cloud environment, such as load handling, security, scalability, failover handling, and automatic backups. This webinar will discuss the new cartridge-based architecture of WSO2’s inherently multi-tenant PaaS foundation. It will then highlight how IT professionals can move their applications to the cloud using WSO2 Stratos 2.0. Finally, the session will demonstrate how to deploy a Web application into a WSO2 Application Server cartridge, highlighting how the can derive all the benefits of Stratos 2.0 without additional coding. Lakmal Warusawithana and Damitha Kumarage will present the session jointly. Lakmal is a software architect and Damitha is a senior technical lead; both are part of the WSO2 cloud technologies team. March 6: Running PHP on Stratos 2.0 Increasingly, PHP developers seek to move their applications into the cloud. For these developers, Stratos 2.0 offers cloud-native capabilities that address concerns such as load handling, security, scalability, failover, and backups. This webinar will explain the entire process of developing and deploying a PHP cartridge in a polyglot container. It will then discuss the application deployment process using examples of WordPress and SugarCRM application deployments. Finally, the session will explore the cloud benefits of a PHP application that is deployed into the WSO2 Stratos 2.0 platform. Jointly presenting this session will be WSO2 cloud technologies experts Lakmal Warusawithana, WSO2 software architect, and Damitha Kumarage, WSO2 senior technical lead. March 13: StratosLive—Open Source Java PaaS In today’s cloud-centric era, enterprises will employ different cloud deployment approaches depending on the specific requirements of an IT project, whether a private, public or hybrid cloud. As a result, it is important to have a single managed cloud middleware platform that can be hosted in local data centers or a public infrastructure as a service. This webinar introduces the features of WSO2 StratosLive, the public PaaS version of WSO2 Stratos. It will examine how WSO2 StratosLive supports the hosting of Web applications, Web services, and data services; data storage, data analysis and presentation, mediation, and service orchestration, among others. Additionally, the session will review core capabilities for multi-tenancy, billing, metering, and log viewing. Webinar presenter Amila Maha Arachchi is a technical lead on the WSO2 cloud technologies team.
