Shariq is a Associate Director - Site Reliability Engineering and part of the Cloud team at WSO2. His areas of interests include Java Enterprise application design and development, distributed business applications, distributed artificial intelligence and agent technology. Shariq worked on developing an agent-based collaborative e-learning system for his final-year research project. A paper on this research published by IEEE, was included in the proceedings of the International Conference of Education and Information Technology (ICEIT) held in 2010. He holds a first class honors degree in Software Engineering from Informatics Institute of Technology, Sri Lanka, which is affiliated to the University of Westminster, UK. Shariq is a soccer fan and is a keen follower of the game. His other interests include reading, playing table tennis, swimming, and watching movies.
