Sagara Gunathunge

Sagara joined WSO2 in May 2011. He is a Technical Lead in the development technologies team focusing on the WSO2 Application Server. Sagara specializes in J2EE, Spring, Web Service and enterprise integration related technologies.

In addition to his product development efforts at WSO2 he is also a PMC member of Apache Axis and Apache Web Services Projects and is an active contributor to the Apache Axis2, Woden, Web services and Nuvem projects. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Apache Web Services project.

Sagara has presented at various events, including IEEE - ICIIS 2007, Apache Asia Roadshow 2009, ApacheCon 2011 and Apache BarCamp Colombo 2012. He published a research paper Leverage the use of XML in dynamic GUI parsing and database stored procedures which was highlighted in the ICIIS Conference.

Sagara holds a special degree in Computer Science from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and also holds Bachelor of Information Technology from the University of Colombo School of Computing.

A self-confessed travel buff, he loves discovering new travel spots and enjoys watching movies and reading in his spare time.
