When trying to add/remove users, I cannot see the list of users currently in the role

When trying to add/remove users, I cannot see the list of users currently in the role. I would have to first go see the users, write their names down, then go in edit users, and do an LDAP search, and finally check/uncheck their names one by one. Please provide a more convenient way.
