Geir Magnusson, Jr.
VP, Platform & Architecture at Gilt Groupe
A long time advocate of open source and open community development, Geir Magnusson is a Member and Officer of the Apache Software Foundation. He is a recognized leader of the Open Source Java movement after having founded the Apache Geronimo J2EE project and the Apache Harmony J2SE project. He is currently the Director of Open Source technology.
Geir is also the Vice President for Platform and Architecture and Chief Architect of the Gilt Groupe. Prior to joining the Gilt Groupe, he was also the Vice President for Engineering at 10gen and before that he served in the same position at Joost Technologies.
Geir has also held positions as a Director of Open Source technology at Intel, VP of Products for Gluecode Software, founding partner of 4 Quarters, LLC, a boutique enterprise system integration technology concern, the VP Development and Chief Architect of Adetpra, Inc, where he managed a distributed team of developers delivering distributed workflow and notification products to the worlds top-tier credit-card and travel services companies. He has served as CTO for a fitness and rehab technology company, and led the development of Bloomberg's worldwide elementized data distribution system.
He holds degrees in Physics and Electrical and Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
