One of the largest airlines in the United States flies to 339 destinations in 54 countries. They made their first forays into IoT with several experiments. These largely involved placing Bluetooth beacons all over one of their biggest terminals, and devices were geo-tagged. This airline received a large amount of data (for example, 300 million requests from one airport alone).
WSO2’s analytics capabilities support their architecture, as the data is used to help decrease passenger waiting times, improve aircraft turn management, and even to predict future patterns. The airline is also hoping to use this platform for other future projects - such as a wheelchair request app, ground fleet management, and aircraft activity tracking.
