WSO2 CTO to Present Workshop on Securing Mobile and Internet of Things Devices at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2014

Session will examine best practices for securing mobile and IoT device identity and privacy using Web-based solutions such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect

Palo Alto, CA – February 20, 2014 – Increasingly, the convergence between traditional mobile devices and a new set of embedded Internet of Things (IoT) devices brings a new set of challenges for ensuring security and privacy. WSO2 Co-founder and CTO Paul Fremantle will address this issue at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in a workshop entitled “GSMA Mobile Identity Workshop: Securing Identity and Privacy Across Both Mobile and IoT Devices.”

The workshop is part of the WIPJAM @ MWC14 developer conference co-presented by WIP and GSMA at the GSMA Mobile World Congress being held February 24-27, 2014 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain.

Securing Mobile and IoT Devices

The conference workshop will begin by examining the significant challenges around ensuring identity and privacy across mobile and IoT devices. It then will explore the Web-based solutions that have emerged, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect. Additionally, the session will discuss certain challenges that remain and identify areas where the industry can collaborate to solve them.

The session will be held 3:10 – 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in Room 5 – Level 3 at Fira Montjuïc, Hall M5.

About the Presenter

Paul Fremantle is WSO2 co-founder and CTO, and he is co-chair of the OASIS Web Services Reliable eXchange Technical Committee. Recognized by InfoWorld as a Top 25 CTO, he was responsible for simultaneously leading development of the groundbreaking WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus and Apache Synapse ESB. Paul has played a pioneering role in open source development, beginning with the original Apache SOAP project and his role in leading IBM's involvement in the Axis C/C++ project.
