WSO2 CTO to Speak on the New Business Models Enabled by Open Source Cloud Platforms at Open Source Junction 3
Presentation Will Examine How the Cloud Enables New Business Models for Driving Revenues and Customer Loyalty, Along with Strategies for Open Source Cloud Adoption
Palo Alto, CA – March 19, 2012
– WSO2 today announced that WSO2 Co-founder and CTO Paul Fremantle will speak on “The Business Benefits of Open Source Cloud Platforms” at
Open Source Junction 3
. The third installment of the OSS Watch series, which focuses on open source cloud and mobile computing, will run March 20-21, 2012 at Trinity College, Oxford University in Oxford, UK. A great deal of focus on the cloud has been purely economic: how to share costs, utilize unused resources, and leverage third-party resources. However in his presentation, Paul will examine the really interesting examples of cloud computing, which go beyond pure economics and are enabling organizations to build new business models for driving revenues and customer loyalty. In exploring these new cloud-based business models, he also will address the real-world concerns of open source and the cloud, including:
The “cloud-native” concepts and attributes that differentiate cloud platforms from previous approaches.
How companies, organizations and academic institutions can build a strategy for cloud adoption that addresses the realities of privacy issues, lock-in concerns, and flexibility to move between
cloud platforms
.
The relationship between open source and the cloud, and why open source is a key aspect of building a cloud strategy.
Paul’s presentation is aimed at IT managers, project managers, IT decision makers, and department leaders. It will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, from 10:00–10:30 a.m., at Trinity College, OX13BH Oxford.
