WSO2 Founder to Speak on Mobile Access, Authentication and Interoperability at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2015

Seminar will examine interoperable mobile identity solutions; conference partner program with WSO2, Axiata and WSO2 will explore personalized access to mobile content services

Mountain View, CA – February 25, 2015 – Today, the mobile Internet ecosystem is fragmented—underserving the needs of people, businesses and brands. As a result, mobile resources are not being utilized to their full potential. Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, WSO2 founder, CEO and chief architect will discuss how to address this issue at a seminar on interoperable and secure mobile authentication, which is part of GSMA Mobile World Congress 2015.

WSO2 is a partner of the GSMA Mobile World Congress, which is being held March 2-5, 2015 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona. In addition to the seminar, Sanjiva will participate in an event jointly held by WSO2, Tone and Axiata Group Berhad that will examine technologies and best practices mobile companies can adopt to improve customer engagement and revenues.

Seminar: Interoperable and Secure Mobile Authentication

The seminar, “Restoring Trust in Online Services by Implementing Identity Solutions that Offer Convenience and Privacy for End Users and Enterprises,” will feature industry experts and high-level representatives. Together, they will discuss how operators and service providers are offering interoperable and secure mobile authentication solutions for personal data. The seminar will be held 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, in room CC1.1 at Fira Gran Via.

Partner Program: Increasing Engagement and Revenues with Mobile Access

The conference partner program, “Mobile Access = Engagement = Revenues,” is a joint event being presented by WSO2, Tone and Axiata. It will examine how Tone’s new model privately connects people, businesses and brands to generate more engagement. Additionally, it will explore how Tone combines mobile content services from top brands with Axiata’s innovative Mobile Internet Fulfillment Exchange (MIFE) platform, based on WSO2 open source technology.

In his session at the event, Sanjiva will discuss how Axiata’s MIFE platform encourages interoperability, enabling telcos and brands to partner and offer subscribers personalized access to relevant to the mobile content services they choose. Additionally, he will examine how the project creates enduring customer engagement and sustainable revenues.

The event will run 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, in Hall 8.0 Theatre F at Fira Gran Via.

About the Presenter

Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana is WSO2 founder, CEO and chief architect. Prior to WSO2, Sanjiva worked for IBM Research, where he focused on innovations in middleware and emerging industry standards. An elected member of the Apache Software Foundation, Sanjiva has also been committed to open source development for many years. In 2003, Sanjiva founded the Lanka Software Foundation, a non-profit organization formed with the objective of promoting open source development by Sri Lankan developers. Additionally, he teaches and guides student projects part-time in the Computer Science & Engineering department of the University of Moratuwa.
