WSO2 Presents Technical Webinars on Identity Management

Free WSO2 Webinars Offer IT Professionals Real-World Best Practices for Standardizing Identity Provisioning with SCIM and Optimizing XACML Using the WSO2 Identity Server Palo Alto, CA – January 17, 2012 – Data breaches faced by Sony, Zappos, and Epsilon over the last several months highlight the need for enterprises to implement more robust identity management. In January, WSO2 will present two technical webinars to help IT architects, developers and administrators take advantage of two open identity management standards: Simple Cloud Identity Management (SCIM) and eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML). Both webinars are available to participants at no cost. January 18: Standardizing Identity Provisioning with SCIM Increasingly, enterprises must implement identity management across multiple software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, many of which expose non-standard provisioning APIs. SCIM is an emerging open standard that simplifies identity provisioning by defining a comprehensive REST API, a platform-neutral schema, and a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) binding to facilitate user management operations across SaaS applications. This webinar will explore how IT architects and developers can leverage Simple Cloud Identity Management to address the common use cases for identity provisioning that are found in enterprise identity management solutions. Additionally, the session will examine key characteristics of the SCIM specification and compare them to alternative provisioning standards, such as the Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML). The one-hour technical webinar is being held twice on Wednesday, January 18: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. PST for the Americas and 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. GMT for Europe and Asia-Pacific. It will be presented by Hasini Gunasinghe, a WSO2 software engineer on the WSO2 Identity Server and Security team. January 24: The WSO2 Identity Server – An Answer to Your Common XACML Dilemmas The eXtensible Access Control Markup Language model serves as a powerful standard for authorization. However, it also brings some challenges, most notably the complexity of XACML policies and the performance bottlenecks associated with XACML policy evaluation. This webinar will explore how to counteract common XACML challenges using the WSO2 Identity Server. The session also will examine the key advantages that XACML provides over a traditional authorization system. Finally, the session will demonstrate how the WSO2 Identity Server augments XACML to streamline access control and improve performance. The one-hour technical webinar is being held twice on Tuesday, January 24: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. PST for the Americas and 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. GMT for Europe and Asia-Pacific. It will be presented by Asela Pathberiya, a WSO2 senior software engineer on the WSO2 Identity Server team.
