Palo Alto, CA – October 21, 2011 – WSO2 today announced that WSO2 Vice President of Business Development and Product Design Jonathan Marsh will speak at the Wall Street Technology Association (WSTA) Boston Seminar: Cloud Computing in Financial Services. The session is entitled “Beyond Exposing APIs: Exposing Your Data and Services Through a Vertical PaaS.” It will explore how companies in the financial services sector can deliver a complete “ecosystem” platform-as-a-service (PaaS) on top of which partners can build and deliver services.
As a sponsor of the seminar, WSO2 also will have a table where attendees can see demos and learn abut the award-winning WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platform and WSO2 StratosLive, the public PaaS hosted by WSO2 and powered by the WSO2 Stratos software. The WSTA Boston seminar is being held October 27, 2011 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers.
Exposing Data and Services Through a Vertical PaaSAdopters of cloud platforms expect scalability, high utilization rates, better analytics for their internal applications, and conversion of CAPEX expenses to OPEX. Additionally, these adopters are seeking more—cloud offerings that provide not only an API to their services but a complete “ecosystem” PaaS, including third-party application hosting with direct access to the core data and services of the organization. By offering a development and hosting platform deeply integrated with their data and services, rather than a simple Web API, financial services companies can increase the potential for monetization and wider application of their service assets. This talk introduces the concepts and motivations behind this idea and provides a few customer data points that may be early indicators of an emerging trend.
Time: Thursday, October 27, 2011, 1:10-1:35 p.m.Presenter: Jonathan Marsh is WSO2 vice president of business development and product design. He has more than a decade of experience helping to develop, standardize and promote core XML and Web services standards, and he previously served as an active member in the W3C and WS-I working groups and OASIS technical committees.
