I’m pleased to share that WSO2 has been recognized by Gartner® in both the Magic Quadrant™ for Full Life Cycle API Management [1] and Critical Capabilities for Full Life Cycle API Management [2]. We view this as validation of the efforts we’ve made to address real-world enterprise demands. We’re sincerely thankful to our many satisfied customers for sharing their feedback on how WSO2 has been instrumental in driving innovation and success.

In the Magic Quadrant for Full Life Cycle API Management published on November 14, 2022, WSO2 was once again named a Visionary. The report recognized WSO2 for its ‘Ability to Execute' and ‘Completeness of Vision’. Moreover, we believe our scores in the 2022 Gartner® Critical Capabilities for Full Life Cycle API Management (published on November 15, 2022) further support our commitment to continual product innovation. For some context, the latest 4.1 release of WSO2 API Manager improves productivity in development and operations, expands support for different protocols and third-party technologies, and completes the product’s analytics story. Comprehensive API Management

APIs now serve as the primary building blocks for assembling data, events, and services within an organization, throughout ecosystems, and across devices. Integrating legacy systems and supporting modern event-driven architectures are critical in delivering timely, relevant digital experiences. At WSO2, we believe APIs should be looked at both as a technical enabler and a business driver for any organization.

However, choosing the right product can be challenging, and this is where insights from leading industry analyst firms like Gartner® can help. The WSO2 API Manager 4.1 platform provides a comprehensive and cohesive approach to manage the entire API management life cycle—while supporting legacy system integrations and new event-driven architectures—to enable enhanced digital interactions.

Over the past decade, many API protocols and specifications have been introduced to meet specific demands (like GraphQL, gRPC, and AsyncAPI). While they were heavily used by application developers to implement new web services and backend applications, API management platforms adopted them slowly over time and their primary focus was on REST/SOAP.

Developer communities trust WSO2 API Manager because of the innovations we’ve made on these new protocols and how we’ve added these as product features. Things like authentication, authorization, and rate limiting have their own characteristics and most REST-related quality of services won't work as-is (e.g., in REST, we rate limit based on the number of requests per second, while we limit GraphQL queries based on the complexity of the query). Our product supports these new protocols with protocol-specific quality of services, without leaving additional work for web service developers or API product managers.

Innovative Industry-Specific Solutions

One API management solution cannot meet the needs of all industry verticals, as each sector has its own characteristics. For example, the banking industry has its own API formats, protocols, and regulations, which are different from those of the healthcare industry.  We offer industry-specific solutions built on top of WSO2 API Manager and WSO2 Identity Server to address these challenges. They significantly lower the skill, time, and cost barriers to delivering great digital experiences, and  help enterprises to comply with local, regional and industry-specific regulations.

Strong Partner Network

We’ve expanded our partner list to over 200 worldwide. We offer a complete developer training program for all our major products free of charge. External developers and partners utilize these training programs to gain knowledge about our industry-leading offerings. WSO2 partner enablement programs help partners to stay up to date and provide the best possible solutions for our customers. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our valuable partners for their continued support over the years.
