The successful adoption of SOA concepts within an enterprise results in a collection of services and a set of consumers - on-premise, in the cloud, or with external partners. Although this diversity delivers attractive plus points such as lower costs, high reliability, and maximum flexibility, it also raises security concerns which can compromise sensitive data and even the system itself. Paying attention to these vulnerabilities is crucial - starting from the early stages of development and preserving the important benefits of SOA.

Thilina Mahesh BuddhikaThe best practice is to leverage a strong, standardized, and widely interoperable mechanism for securing these services. The WS-Security standard defines the security measures that should be taken to prevent security attacks on Web services. It is defined on top of well-established security concepts and forms a platform that can be used to secure web services from possible attacks.

WSO2 Carbon supports the WS-Security specifications, enabling users to conveniently secure their web services with an easy-to-use security wizard and a convenient set of predefined security scenarios.

Your presenter, Thilina Mahesh Buddhika, will cover the following topics:

  • Overview of basic security concepts
