Assisted by advances in mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, and sensor technologies, most notably RFIDs, Web and enterprise systems now generate terabytes of data on a daily basis. However, capturing and managing this data has become a major challenge, particularly when attempting to use conventional relational databases that were not designed to handle data at the scale enabled by Internet and cloud-based applications. As a result, companies increasingly are adopting new NoSQL data stores as a solution to their big data demands.
This webinar is designed for IT professionals who are interested in application development that takes advantage of big data on a platform-as-a-service (PaaS). It will examine the Apache Cassandra database and its column store data model, as well as present best practices for capturing and storing big data based on real-world customer experiences. Additionally the webinar will review potential use cases for the WSO2 Column Store Service (CSS), a Cassandra-based multi-tenant database to store column data. WSO2 CSS is available as part of the WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platform and WSO2 StratosLive PaaS.
Attendees will learn
- When to select a NoSQL column store database
- The advantages of WSO2 CSS, particularly in a cloud deployment
- How to create and manage a Cassandra keyspace using WSO2 CSS
- How to develop and deploy an application with the WSO2 CSS
