More and more enterprises are realizing that software-as-a-service (SaaS) provides a cost-efficient way to deliver their applications. However, the success of a SaaS implementation depends on cloud middleware software or platform-as-a-service (PaaS) on which it runs. Today, only a few platform-as-a-service (PaaS) implementations have breadth of middleware as a service offerings required to develop and integrate complex service-oriented architecture (SOA) applications in the cloud.

WSO2 Stratos is a complete enterprise-ready cloud middleware platform. It is designed to extend SOA to the cloud. It is the same set of WSO2 Carbon products that are available as Services in Stratos with added cloud-native features such as self-provisioning, multi-tenancy, elasticity and metering. WSO2 Application Server as-a-Service is part of WSO2 Stratos PaaS and it extends WSO2 Application Server features in Cloud. It also provides the ideal SOA platform with all cloud native features to SaaS developers where they only have to write their SaaS applications and host them in the WSO2 Application Server- as-a-Service and these applications will inherit the benefits of both SOA and true cloud native environment.
