AAA began in 1902, almost immediately after the first horseless carriages appeared on America’s roads. During that time, only 23,000 cars were in operation in this country, compared with 17 million horses.

Today, AAA is organized as a federation of motor clubs serving more than 53 million members throughout the United States and Canada.

The AAA Ohio Automobile Club uses TST (Travel Syndication Technology) for all their online bookings of air, car, and hotel travel. This means that all bookings have to be queried and entered manually to their information system AXIS, resulting in a lot of time and human effort wasted. This pushed the team to look for a middleware solution to help automate the tedious process.

Thanks to WSO2, AAA Ohio Automobile Club was able to

  • Get rid of manual entries of bookings.
  • Enable seamless adjustment to changes in the systems that were integrated.
  • Easily integrate into other external systems and easily adopt other components of the WSO2 product stack.

With the use of the WSO2 ESB , the bookings were picked from TST’s end and converted to a standard OTA (OpenTravel Alliance) format which is accepted by AAA-Ohio’s information management system( AXIS portal). The WSO2 ESB as a Load Balancer was also deployed in order to distribute the load to cluster nodes.
