Manage organizations

# Manage organizations

When you created your account with Asgardeo, you defined your first organization, which functions as the super organization or tenant in your Asgardeo subscription. From thereon, you (the account owner) or other delegated administrators can create multiple organizations via the Asgardeo console and switch between the created organizations.

Listed below are the main characteristics of an organization.

  • An organization contains applications, external identity providers, and user identities belonging to a single domain.
  • Users or the applications created in one organization cannot access the other organization's resources unless they are onboarded to that organization.
  • The administrator who creates the organization is the owner of the organization.

The organizations you create may represent separate business entities in your B2C or B2B enterprise. Let’s consider each of these scenarios:

  • B2C organizations

In a B2C scenario, you will create an organization in Asgardeo to represent your business. This organization will manage the identity and access management requirements of the applications of your business and also manage the user identities of your direct consumers. You may also have separate organizations set up to replicate the environments of your business organization’s application development lifecycle.

  • B2B organizations

In a B2B scenario, you will first create an organization in Asgardeo to represent your business (similar to the B2C scenario), which will be your root organization.

You will then create subordinate organizations to onboard other business organizations (partners, suppliers, customer organizations, etc.) to your platform. The administrators in each subordinate organization will have the control to manage each organziation’s user base and to define the login experience to your applications according to the organization’s requirements.
