Panel: Role of AI in Government
Governments don't put "AI" next to "government" for the same reason, the goal might be efficiency, service reach, new revenue, or tighter control, and that choice quietly determines everything a country does next. This panel opens by pressing senior representatives to name that goal plainly, then compares how each is acting on it. The discussion also turns to what sequencing can't solve on its own: building and retaining engineering talent inside government rather than losing it to the private sector; maintaining citizen trust as AI moves from assisting staff to deciding benefit allocations and regulatory approvals; and avoiding vendor lock-in as public digital infrastructure is built on fast-moving commercial AI. Three governments, three different orders of operations, same open questions about purpose, trust, and durability.
