Athavan Theivendram

Athavan is a Site Reliability Engineer on the Customer Success Team at WSO2, based in the Colombo office.

Before joining WSO2, Athavan worked as a DevOps Engineer at Kognitiv Corporation, where he managed cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure) and automated deployment pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable delivery processes. Prior to that, he was a Software Engineer at Xeptagon, where he developed applications using Node.js, Elasticsearch, and React.js, while also managing AWS-based cloud infrastructure.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the University of Colombo School of Computing. During his time at university, Athavan participated in the Virtusa SRE Hackathon in 2021, earning the 2nd runner-up position with his team.

Outside of work, Athavan is passionate about photography and enjoys listening to instrumental music. While not a seasoned cook, he occasionally ventures into the kitchen—guided entirely by YouTube tutorials, which he considers essential to the process. A former school basketball captain (2015), he stays active through sports, especially badminton and cricket. He is also deeply committed to community engagement, frequently speaking at events and hosting workshops for university students.
