Puny counts more than 25 years of experience as a legal professional. She started her career as an Associate at Paul Ratnayeke Associates, Legal Consultants and Attorneys at Law based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and was later admitted to the partnership. Her main focus area was corporate law, which included working closely with the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka on foreign direct investments.
She has been leading WSO2’s legal function since 2009. In her role, she oversees corporate legal affairs across all WSO2’s global entities, including contracting, setting up internal controls for all legal entities and developing new processes in line with business requirements, developing corporate compliance programs and ensuring compliance with country/state specific legal and regulatory requirements, risk evaluation, and insurance.
She holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, is an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, and is a qualified Company Secretary and Commissioner for Oaths. She also holds a Diploma in Marketing Management from the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA).
Puny is passionate about animal welfare and devotes time and effort to rescue, fund, sponsor, and care for street dogs. She also enjoys traveling, particularly going on safaris and wildlife adventures, as well as reading, in her spare time.
