Roland Hewage

Roland is a Senior Software Engineer in the Ecosystem Engineering Team and is based in our office in Colombo.

Before he joined WSO2, Roland worked as a Software Engineer Intern in the Analytics/Siddhi Team. He was responsible for the data migration of WSO2 analytics solutions from WSO2 Data Analytics Server to WSO2 Stream Processor. He worked with the Enterprise Integrator and Identity and Access Management Teams during his projects and coordinated with the support engineers in solving custom support issues and bugs. Roland has a bachelor’s special degree in Computer Science from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka.

For his final year research project, he developed a deep learning model for predicting DNA N6- Methyladenine (6mA) sites in eukaryotic genomes and introduced a novel approach to encode DNA sequences to use with convolutional neural network architectures in the research areas of Bioinformatics and Deep learning, which he published in 2020.

Roland enjoys writing poems, listening to music, travelling, blogging, and watching movies in his spare time. He is someone who wants to be the change that he wishes to see in the world.
