About the Role
WSO2 is looking for a proactive and technically strong Systems Engineer to join our Digital Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and securing WSO2’s global and local infrastructure, including cloud platforms, on-prem systems, and networks all aligned with ISO 27001 standards. You will also play a key role in supporting system availability and performance across the company.
This is a dynamic position involving work across a mix of environments (Linux, Windows, macOS), and may require flexible work hours to handle urgent situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure infrastructure compliance with ISO 27001 and other security frameworks.
- Manage and maintain systems and infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Perform troubleshooting and optimization of Linux-based servers.
- Maintain and administer container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes (including EKS, AKS).
- Ensure timely patching and vulnerability remediation for infrastructure systems.
- Operate and fine-tune a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system.
- Collaborate closely with Development, DevOps, and Security teams on infrastructure needs and enhancements.
- Build scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure and automate routine operational tasks.
- Ensure 24x7 availability and reliability of WSO2 production systems, including participation in on-call rotations for incident response and support.
- Develop and implement internal IT and cloud security processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Linux-related certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-1) are preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in Linux system administration, preferably in a large-scale, enterprise environment.
- Strong background in systems and network security, with a solid grasp of modern security practices and protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting/automation using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), WAFs (e.g., Cloudflare), and tools such as firewalls, IDS, antivirus, log management, etc.
- Good understanding of networking and web-related technologies, including encryption, certificate/key management, and penetration testing.
- Experience in managing relational and non-relational database systems.
- A security-first mindset, with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
- Strong problem-solving ability and resilience under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
