About WSO2 and the Agent Platform Team

The WSO2 Agent Platform team is responsible for architecting and executing our next-generation Agentic AI ecosystem. We build robust tools and runtime infrastructure including Agent Lifecycle Management, AI Gateways, and cloud dataplanes enabling enterprises to deploy, govern, observe, and scale AI Agents securely.
Role overview
We are seeking an exceptional Technical Lead for the WSO2 Agent Platform. In this role, you will balance hands-on architectural design and core module implementation with technical leadership, engineering mentorship, and delivery management.
Key responsibilities
1. Technical leadership and architecture
- Architect, design, and implement end-to-end features for Agent Lifecycle Management, runtime control planes, and AI Gateway integrations.
- Drive architectural decisions around high-throughput, low-latency microservices, cloud-native dataplanes, and secure multi-tenant environments.
- Formulate core module specifications, interface contracts (REST/gRPC), and data models for AI agent governance and orchestration.
2. Engineering execution and code quality
- Maintain a high standard of code quality through comprehensive code reviews, robust testing strategies (unit, integration, performance), and architectural governance.
- Own CI/CD build pipelines, automated releases, technical debt management, and continuous performance optimization.
- Lead sprint planning, technical estimations, and delivery tracking to ensure predictable release cycles.
Education and experience
- BSc / MSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- 5-8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building distributed enterprise products or cloud platform services.
- 2+ years in a Technical Leadership, Lead Architect, or Engineering Team Lead capacity.
Core technical lead skills (mandatory)
- System design and architecture: Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architectures, API design (REST, gRPC, WebSockets), and cloud-native computing (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Programming proficiency: Strong hands-on coding ability in modern server-side languages such as Java, Go, Python, or C/C++.
- Engineering ownership and mentorship: Proven track record of end-to-end technical delivery, architectural accountability, and leading engineering teams through complex releases.
- Communication and leadership: Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
AI and agentic experience (added advantage)
- AI agent frameworks: Experience building with AI Agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, LlamaIndex) or custom multi-agent orchestration engines.
- Protocols and tooling: Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI plugin architectures, CLI/SDK development, and developer tooling.
- AI infrastructure and observability: Understanding of LLM Gateways, prompt guardrails, RAG/Vector databases, or AI tracing tools (OpenTelemetry, LangSmith, Phoenix).
