About the Role
WSO2 is seeking highly motivated Research Engineer to conduct in-depth research in AI and distributed systems-with the goal of generating long-term strategic value and competitive advantage for the company.
These full-time positions are designed to provide the time, space, and mentorship for deep, focused research. Ideal for recent graduates aspiring to pursue a Ph.D., the program functions as a pre-doctoral apprenticeship, allowing you to build a strong research profile in preparation for graduate school applications.
What You’ll Do
As a Research Engineer, you will:
- Engage in original research aligned with AI and distributed systems.
- Collaborate with internal researchers and engineers.
- Write technical papers, communicate your findings, and contribute to WSO2’s research visibility.

You will be evaluated based on research quality, analytical rigor, and communication effectiveness. WSO2 will make its best effort to support travel and registration for relevant conferences where your work is accepted for publication.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field or final year students who are able to join by Feb 2026.

Terms
- Fellowship duration: up to 2 years maximum.
- Early departure is permitted for candidates accepted into graduate school.
- At the program's conclusion, fellows are highly encouraged to transition into graduate studies if they've secured an offer. Alternatively, high-performing fellows may have the opportunity to join the WSO2 Engineering Team, subject to position availability.
