1. What is WSO2 Governance Registry?

WSO2 Governance Registry is a product from WSO2 that facilitates you to govern the SOA platform of your organization by helping you store and manage SOA meta data. The product is free and open source with Apache licence and you can download it from here: https://wso2.org/projects/governance-registry.

2. What is Software as a Service (SaaS)?

SaaS is an approach of publishing software on the web, rather than providing a dowloadable package. So the end users (Mostly Organizations) can create an account for them in the hosted software instance and use that. The main advantage of using this approach is users don't need to maintain the software or the underlying infrastructure, rather the hosting provider will take care of the maintenance effort.

3. What is WSO2 Governance as a Service?

WSO2 Governance as a Service will provide a WSO2 Governance Registry hosted instance on the web following the SaaS principle. You can use this online without having to download, install, configure and deploy the WSO2 Governance Registry package.

This multi-tenant, hosted version is completely self-serviced with each tenant or domain having its own theme, own logo and of course own users. While it can be managed by its own user community, tenants optionally can publish some data publicly, for example business-to-business service entries.

4. What are the advantages of using WSO2 Governance as a Service instead of WSO2 Governance Registry product?

You don't need to administrate or maintain the infrastructure to run the software. This includes the effort to solve problems related to scalability, failover recovery, load balancing, etc.. And you will automatically get the latest update.

5. How can I create an account with WSO2 Governance as a Service?

Go to WSO2 Governance as a Service page: https://governance.cloud.wso2.com and click the 'Register' button. You can create an account for your organization by providing the organization domain name. You can create accounts for free with limited access.

6. How much free contents can I have there?

An organization you register can upload upto 100 resources (Note that this value can be changed in the future). A resource should be less than 1MB in size.

6. What should I do if I want to upload resources beyond these limits?

We are currently working on providing more storage to paid users. We will inform all the account admins once we launch the paid model, which will have larger resource limits.
