The WSO2 Integration team is excited to announce the release of the 100% open source, AI-native, and future-ready WSO2 Micro Integrator 4.4.0! A key component of the WSO2 Integrator product, WSO2 Micro Integrator 4.4.0 builds on the success of WSO2 Micro Integrator 4.3.0, and introduces a range of improvements and new features designed to enhance the low-code integration development experience, boost productivity, and drive innovation.

Simplified Setup and Onboarding

WSO2 Micro Integrator 4.4.0 simplifies setup and onboarding with direct installation via the VS Code plugin, eliminating manual configurations for a faster, error-free experience. Users are automatically prompted to download Java and WSO2 Micro Integrator, while the system configures the Maven Wrapper and JAVA_HOME, removing setup complexities. This automation streamlines the process, reducing the time and effort required to get started.

Simplified Expressions

WSO2 Micro Integrator 4.4.0 introduces a new, simplified expression system equipped with an innovative expression editor. This solution is designed to make expression management more intuitive and less error-prone for users of all levels. It also supports a wider range of functionalities, enabling users to perform complex operations with simplified commands and greater efficiency.

Key features include:

• Simplified Expression Syntax: New syntax options that reduce the complexity of writing and understanding expressions.
• Expression Editor: A user-friendly interface that allows for easier creation, testing, and debugging of expressions without deep technical knowledge of XPath or JSONPath.

Simplified Connector Creation

A new tool has been implemented to simplify connector development by auto-generating connectors using OpenAPI specifications. The tool is integrated into the VS Code extension to enable developers to generate connectors and use them within the project.

Enhanced Mediator Testing Capabilities

The new "Trying Out Mediator" feature introduces a more interactive and direct approach to testing mediators during the design phase, helping streamline the development and testing process.

This feature enhances developer efficiency and accuracy by allowing:

• An Interactive Testing Environment: Developers can now directly input test payloads at the "Start" node of their integration flow. This facilitates on-the-spot testing and observation of how mediators handle different inputs, allowing for immediate adjustments and optimization.
• Flexible Testing Views: The feature supports testing from both the diagram view and the form view. This dual-view functionality ensures that developers can work within their preferred interface, making the tool accessible for users with varying preferences and expertise levels.

These enhancements make it easier for developers to interactively test, debug, and refine mediators within the design environment without the need to deploy the integration first. This immediate feedback loop significantly reduces the iteration time and helps fine-tune integrations right from the development phase.

New Mediators, Connectors, and Mediator Enhancements

New Scatter-Gather, ForEach, and Variable Mediators have been added to address common use cases, and the mediator UI has been simplified for improved usability. Also, a new HTTP connector has been added to simplify the user experience of the integration with HTTP/S protocol-based systems.
