Organizational Identity for B2B IAM and Beyond

Traditional IAM design predominantly focussed on user identities for employees and/or consumers of a given organization. Though it worked well for its time, it has run its course now. It doesn’t provide enough flexibility and autonomy when it comes to complex situations, such as MNCs, groups of companies/conglomerates, businesses with multiple product lines, regional/satellite offices, etc.

Modern CIAM vendors on the other hand have adopted an application-centric design paradigm, which is also crippled when it comes to policy governance across sub-brands, different customer populations, etc.

In the midst of these challenges, a new segment of IAM called B2B IAM has been thrown into this mix, which addresses the problem of managing access from external identities when organizations have to deal with other organizations. While the foundational capabilities of B2B IAM are shared with B2E and B2C IAM, it has its own unique requirements such as organization onboarding, customizable workflows and branding, delegated administration, B2B collaboration, etc.

This session will explore hierarchical organization-centric design for IAM via real world use cases, and show you how it effectively combines the best of both organization-centric design and application-centric design to address employee, customer and B2B IAM.
