WSO2 Technology Executive to Present Session on Building an Apache-Based Enterprise PaaS at CloudStack Collaboration Conference Europe 2014

WSO2 Director of Cloud Architecture and Vice President of Apache Stratos will explore best practices for implementing and managing a PaaS built on the Apache CloudStack and Stratos projects

Mountain View, CA – November 13, 2014 – Together, Apache CloudStack and Apache Stratos provide enterprises with a powerful open source solution for implementing multi-tenancy, instant provisioning, and other cloud capabilities. At CloudStack Collaboration Conference Europe 2014, Lakmal Warusawithana, vice president of Apache Stratos and WSO2 director of cloud architecture will present a session on how to build a platform as a service (PaaS) with Stratos and CloudStack. The event will run November 19-21, 2014 at the Corinthia Hotel in Budapest, Hungary.

Building a PaaS with CloudStack and Apache Stratos

Lakmal’s session, “Building a PaaS with CloudStack and Apache Stratos,” will run from 12:00-12:25 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Arany room. The session is part of the event’s “QA & PaaS” track.

Lakmal will begin with an architectural overview of Apache Stratos, a highly extensible PaaS framework that can run a range of software—such as Apache Tomcat, PHP, and MySQL, among others—through cartridges that plug into Stratos. He then will discuss how Stratos provides developers a cloud-based environment for developing, testing and running scalable applications while also supporting powerful deployment options.

Next Lakmal will examine how developers can install Apache Stratos on top of Apache CloudStack, the open source software for creating, deploying and managing infrastructure cloud services. Additionally, he will explain how to deploy sample applications using the Puppet open source configuration utility, as well as extend support for new application containers. Finally, Lakmal will wrap up the session by demonstrating best practices for application deployment, provisioning and auto-scaling.
