WSO2 to Present Webinar Series on Optimizing Big Data Management

Technical webinars will review big data challenges and explore solutions enabled by business activity monitoring and cloud computing

Palo Alto, CA – June 5, 2013 – Enterprises increasingly are coming to recognize big data as a combination of high-volume, high-velocity and high-variety information assets, which demand cost-effective, innovative forms of information processing for enhanced insight and decision making. Therefore, any big data solution should be able to address the three main issues of capacity, scalability and availability. A new three-part webinar series from WSO2 will examine the challenges presented by big data and best practices that IT organizations can implement to overcome them on-premises and in the cloud. The sessions, which are being held June 12-July 2, 2013, include:

  • Big Data Storage Challenges and Solutions: Wednesday, June 12, 2013
  • Enterprise Use Case Webinar – PaaS Metering & Monitoring: Wednesday, June 26
  • WSO2 BAM – Your Big Data Toolbox: Tuesday, July 2, 2013, 2013

The webinars will be led by WSO2 technical experts on cloud computing, big data, and business activity monitoring (BAM). Each session will run from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. To learn more and register, visit https://wso2.com/landing/big-data-webinar-series.

June 12: Big Data Storage Challenges and Solutions

Over time, data storage capacity transforms into a storage scalability problem. This webinar will examine the challenges facing enterprises today. These include the complexity introduced by using the optimal data store for each data type, the need for an Apache Hadoop-backed Hive or Pig platform to provide analysis and more readily access big data, and the need for a sustainable approach to big data management that uses commodity hardware solutions. The session will review how databases, such as Cassandra and HBase, as well as the Hadoop Distributed File System, take advantage of commodity hardware, as well as how IT professionals can achieve big data capacity, scalability and accessibility using WSO2 Storage Server and WSO2 Business Activity Monitor (WSO2 BAM).

Webinar presenter Deependra Ariyadewa is a technical lead on the WSO2 development technologies team, focusing on cloud computing and big data. To learn more, visit https://wso2.org/library/webinars/2013/06/big-data-storage-challenges-solutions.

June 26: Enterprise Use Case – PaaS Metering & Monitoring

Increasingly, organizations are adopting platform-as-a-service (PaaS) to run applications on the cloud and unite users within a single system. However, numerous PaaS interactions produce large amounts of data that require management, storage and analysis. This webinar will present a big data solution that can meter and monitor a public PaaS using WSO2 BAM and the WSO2 StratosLive open Java PaaS. The session also will discuss how the scalable architecture of WSO2 BAM can handle high volumes of data within a PaaS. Additionally, the webinar will dig into how WSO2 StratosLive is monitored by reviewing use cases on billing and metering; log analysis; and monitoring of statistics on Web services, proxy services, endpoints and more.

Presenting the webinar will be Kasun Weranga, a software engineer on the WSO2 data technologies team, who focuses on WSO2 BAM. To learn more, visit https://wso2.org/library/webinars/2013/06/enterprise-use-case-webinar-paas-metering-amp-monitoring.

July 2: WSO2 BAM – Your Big Data Toolbox

Today, enterprises handle large and complex data sets that are often too difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications. This webinar will examine the challenges that many BAM solutions face in addressing big data demands, which often lead to a complex and incoherent set of configurations that lack the usability needed by non-technical users. It also will discuss how IT professionals can take advantage of WSO2 BAM as a “big data toolbox” for aggregating, analyzing and visualizing their big data to produce meaningful results. Additionally, the session will include a demonstration and highlight existing WSO2 BAM toolboxes.

Jointly presenting the session will be Sinthuja Ragendran and Maninda Edirisooriya, both software engineers on the WSO2 data technologies team, who focus on WSO2 BAM. To learn more, visit https://wso2.org/library/webinars/2013/07/wso2-bam-your-big-data-toolbox.
