Overview

CJD Equipment (CJD), founded in 1974, distributes machinery to construction, transport, and agricultural industries in Australia. With 50 years of experience, the company sells, services, and supports heavy equipment from brands like Volvo, Kenworth, DAF, Isuzu, and Fuso. A network of dealers and service centers across the country ensures customer access to reliable machinery and support.

CJD's business covers the entire machinery distribution lifecycle. This includes equipment sales for construction, mining, agriculture, and transport; logistics and supply chain management; aftermarket services such as maintenance and spare parts; and finance and leasing.

To meet this challenge, CJD turned to WSO2 Micro Integrator, a component of the WSO2 Integrator product, as the backbone of its integration strategy. By automating workflows, enhancing system interoperability, and ensuring smooth data exchanges, CJD streamlined its operations—allowing them to focus on what matters most: keeping industries powered with reliable machinery and top-tier service.

Challenge

CJD struggled to automate data flow between its internal systems. These systems—ERP, warehouse, supply chain, and customer service—used different data formats and protocols. This made integration difficult, hindering real-time data exchange and operational efficiency. The company also faced the following challenges.

  • Many of CJD's processes, including file transfers and data synchronization, were manual. This led to errors, delays, and inefficiencies.
  • CJD needed an integration solution that could scale with its business. The lack of a scalable platform limited its growth and adaptability.
  • CJD's legacy SOAP-based services required conversion to RESTful APIs for better usability. The absence of a conversion tool made this difficult.

Objectives

CJD needed to:

  • Scale and adapt: They needed an integration system that would support current and future needs. The system would allow for easy expansion of supply chains and distribution networks.
  • Simplify integration: CJD wanted to streamline data flow between systems and partners. They wanted to reduce manual work, minimize errors, and improve real-time access. The company also wanted to modernize old services by switching from SOAP to REST APIs to improve system connections, performance, and usability.
  • Secure data exchange: The company wanted to automate processes to reduce security risks. They required improved encryption, authentication, and API security to protect sensitive data and comply with regulations.

Solution

CJD overcame its integration challenges by implementing WSO2 Micro Integrator, a solution that streamlined complex processes, eliminated manual workloads, modernized legacy systems, and enabled scalability.

WSO2 Micro Integrator was pivotal in streamlining the business’s integration processes, pulling in large data volumes seamlessly. This eliminated the need for manual data exchange and reduced errors. CJD’s diverse schema of internal and external systems were unified through the platform and WSO2 led the seamless conversion in legacy services to modern API standards, delivering flexibility and developer efficiency.

WSO2 facilitated a resilient and scalable infrastructure that positioned the company to address current and future growth needs.

Results

  • Removed bottlenecks: CJD created a unified integration layer. This allowed smooth communication between internal systems and external partners. This reduced supply chain bottlenecks and maintenance costs.
  • Improved interoperability: CJD moved from old SOAP services to modern APIs. This improved system performance, accessibility, and integration.
  • Ensured scalability: CJD built a flexible system that can adapt to business needs and support growth.
  • Increased efficiency: CJD optimized file transfers and data synchronization. This led to faster transactions and real-time access to data.
