This release features a Unified Control Plane, which manages SaaS-based data planes and prepares for future on-premises data plane support. What’s Next?

WSO2 APIM SaaS is evolving to offer a unified central control plane, providing a single interface for managing APIs across on-premises and SaaS environments. This will include API gateway federation, allowing seamless management of multiple gateways, including WSO2 API Manager Gateway, WSO2 APK Gateway, and AWS API Gateway. The upcoming policy hub will serve as a centralized repository for governance policies, ensuring uniform policy enforcement across all API gateways.

Future enhancements will also include AI-powered capabilities, including token-based rate limiting, intelligent routing, AI analytics, and request/response mediation. Expanded multi-protocol API support will extend compatibility beyond REST to include GraphQL, gRPC, and Async APIs.
