WSO2 Announces Keynote Speakers for WSO2Con Asia 2014

Keynote speakers will explore the connected business, case studies, and concepts around leveraging cloud, open source, API management, SOA, and mobile technologies

Palo Alto, CA – February 27, 2014 – WSO2 today announced the keynote speakers for WSO2Con Asia 2014, including executives from Dialog Axiata PLC/Axiata Group Berhad, Commonwealth Bank, and WSO2. Collectively, these featured speakers will share their vision for the connected business, as well as introduce case studies, concepts and technologies for achieving successful real-world deployments.

WSO2’s fifth user conference will be held March 24-26, 2014 at Waters Edge in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka. Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya is group chief executive of Dialog Axiata PLC and CEO of Axiata Digital Services, Axiata Group Berhad. He helps run one of the largest market capitalized companies on the Colombo Stock Exchange, which operates Sri Lanka’s leading mobile phone network and is also a leading provider of Fixed Line, Broadband, Digital Television and International Telecommunication Services. He has published widely on the subject of digital mobile communications, including research papers in publications of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Royal Society and Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Additionally, Dr. Wijayasuriya has made several keynote presentations at international conferences on digital mobile communications. His session will run 9:45–10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

Rana Peries, Commonwealth Bank head of innovation and digital financial services technology, focuses on the company's Asian business strategy. He is responsible for leading the technology innovation and platform strategies that enable customer acquisition and new business models. Rana has extensive expertise in technology strategy and innovation in banking and financial services, having served as head of enterprise architecture and CIO for major international banks. His presentation will run 9:00–9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, WSO2 founder, chairman and CEO, has been involved with open source for many years and is an active member of the Apache Software Foundation. He was the original creator of Apache SOAP and has been part of Apache Axis, Apache Axis2 and most Apache Web services projects. He founded WSO2 after having spent nearly 8 years in IBM Research, where he was one of the founders of the Web services platform. During that time, he co-authored many Web services specifications including WSDL, BPEL4WS, WS-Addressing, WS-RF and WS-Eventing. His session will run 9:15–9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

Asanka Abeysinghe, WSO2 vice president of solutions architecture, provides consulting and training for enterprise IT architects and developers. He also focuses on the company’s vertical market capabilities, including financial services. Asanka has more than a decade of experience implementing projects, from desktops and Web applications to highly scalable distributed systems and SOAs, mobile platforms, and business integration solutions. His presentation will run 5:00–5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.
