Celebrating the Winners of the WSO2 Certified Employee of the Year (2021) Contest

We are excited to announce the winners of the inaugural WSO2 Certified Employee of the Year (WCEY) contest, which was held to recognize the efforts of our employees who have achieved the highest number of certifications during 2021. 

THE WINNER - VITHURSA MAHENDRARAJAH

Vithursa was the overall winner with a grand total of 13 certifications. She received 1 Solutions Architect, 1 Expert, 7 Developer, 1 Sales Professional, and 3 Practitioner certifications. Having received a certification previously, Vithursa has been awarded 14 WSO2 certifications in total. 

Vithursa is an Associate Technical Lead in the WSO2 API Manager developer team. She has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, specializing in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering. She has been working at WSO2 for more than four years. She has won third place at the WSO2 Rockstar contest for content creation. Vithursa enjoys watching movies and traveling.

1ST RUNNER-UP - ARUNAN SUGUNAKUMAR

The 1st Runner-Up was Arunan who was awarded 10 certifications within 2021. The certifications he received were 1 Solutions Architect 1 Expert, 6 Developer, and 2 Practitioner certifications. 

Arunan is a Senior Software Engineer in the WSO2 API Manager developer team. He has been working at WSO2 for more than 3 years. Arunan has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He has also won the WSO2 Rockstar badge twice and been placed second once by contributing articles for WSO2. Arunan enjoys reading books, playing Scrabble, and watching movies in his leisure time.

2ND RUNNER-UP - SUMUDU WEERASURIYA

The 2nd runner-up Sumudu was awarded 9 certifications, which consisted of 1 Expert, 5 Developer, and 3 Practitioner certifications. 

Sumudu is a Software Engineer working on the Customer Success team based in Colombo for 1 year and 3 months. Sumudu has a bachelor's degree in Information Technology from the University of Colombo School of Computing, Sri Lanka. He is also an Oracle Certified Java programmer. He has also won the WSO2 Rockstar badge by writing technical articles on WSO2 products and real-world scenarios. Sumudu enjoys listening to music, photography, and watching movies and TV shows.
