WSO2 Summits 2020: Building an Integrated API Supply Chain

  • Asanka Abeysinghe
  • CTO - WSO2

Adjusting to the new normal, we are running our WSO2 Summits as virtual global events this year. We made a slight adjustment to the general program structure by making the events half a day over two consecutive days. Even though the events are global, we decided to make it a three-part series by targeting different time zones.

  • Americas - August 26-27, 2020 (9 AM to 1 PM PDT)
  • APAC - September 9-10, 2020 (9 AM to 1 PM SGT)
  • EMEA - September 23-24, 2020 (9 AM to 1 PM BST)

If you are responsible for and working on APIs, integration, security projects, or overall digital transformation, these are for you. Precisely, we are expecting individuals ranging from architects, technical managers, CTOs, CIOs, and CDOs to attend these online events. Having said that, we are not closing the gates for developers; if you are a developer interested in learning, you can still join and follow up by attending our webinars and workshops by selecting the information relevant for you.

This year, we are going to focus on building an integrated API supply chain. Our narrative for picking the topic is, "Now, all enterprises focus on providing seamless digital experiences to consumers. An integrated API supply chain—the successor to traditional delivery models—is key to achieve this and stay ahead of the competition. APIs have become the products of the century, and integration and security are pivotal to have a winning strategy."

Each day, we will start with keynotes followed by technical sessions. The keynotes will cover vendor-neutral thought leadership concepts about the integrated API supply chain. The technical sessions will focus on supporting topics on architecture and technology required to build an integrated API supply chain successfully.

APIs are the products of the modern supply chain. We will explain how to productize your APIs; do the plumbing of your enterprise; expose API-ready smart endpoints; secure your APIs; and deploy, run, and manage your APIs in modern cloud-native environments like Kubernetes.

"The only source of knowledge is experience."—Albert Einstein

In addition to inhouse WSO2 experts, industry thought leaders and our customers will join us and share their experience in building successful API programs using WSO2 technology. They will also share the challenges they faced and how they overcame those and made an impact on the business to provide a better experience for their consumers.

Each session contains a Q&A session. We are planning to run our help desk (Oxygen Bar) as an online breakout session throughout the event. You can use the above channels to get your questions answered and engage with the speakers and other attendees.

You can follow the hashtags #WSO2Summit and #IntegratedAPISupplyChain on Twitter and LinkedIn and get timely updates. Of course, don't forget to mention the event as well as provide your valuable feedback using the same from your social media handles.

As the chair of the event program committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to this two-day educational event and share your thoughts with us. You can find the registration forms for each event from the event page. I am looking forward to meeting you all virtually during WSO2 Summits 2020.

History

WSO2 Summit used to be a one-day event hosted in different cities around the world. Last year, we ran 14 summits. WSO2 Summit is a scaled-down version of WSO2Con, our three-day user conference. We started WSO2Con in 2010 and ran three conferences per year in North America, Europe, and Asia. However, we realized that not everyone could make it to WSO2Con due to the conflicts of schedules and travel restrictions. Therefore, we started running the mini WSO2Con (WSO2 Summit) in different cities throughout the year.
