With digital transformation at the forefront of any organization’s growth plan, the goal for PT ASABRI (Persero) was to implement and support existing government policies and programs in the field of economics and national development with a focus on social insurance through the organizations use of insurance and social security. With the aim of continuous improvement by enhancing the benefits and security features offered to its’ customers the company needed to overhaul its existing unstandardized web service system. The previous system only used a system username and password, compromising the security of the system and the consumer’s data.
In addition, paying partners needed to access the system through closed API web services rendering the process cumbersome for monthly payment transactions.
Improving customer satisfaction and business efficiency required the modernization of the organization’s legacy systems to enable easy billing management and advanced security protocols to monetize the web service to be a profit center.

PT ASABRI serves as the main organization implementing social insurance policies and pension payments for members of the Indonesian National Army, Indonesian National Police, and the Civil Servants Ministry of Defense.
This stated-owned enterprise consists of over 500 employees, with 33 branch offices and 15 paying partners across the country.
PT ASABRI (Persero) worked with PT Swamedia Informatika, a WSO2 Partner, to implement WSO2 API Manager as a key component in their platform. WSO2 API Manager enables the design and prototyping of API’s with the ability to publish, manage, monitor, and monetize API’s.
In addition, the product is utilized to manage API usage and traffic while offering API governance - the practice of applying common rules related to standards and security policies for API access controls, and platform security.
With the use of WSO2 API Manager PT ASABRI (Persero) built a simple, scalable architecture for its digital transformation initiatives. The platform employs a microservices-driven approach as it enables developers to reuse individual components to build new applications rapidly and fix issues with ease.
The adoption of the WSO2 platform has resulted in the seamless and safe exchange of information. ASABRI's new architecture is ready to adapt to internal and external changes on their journey of digital transformation. The organization now has the opportunity to build a modularized service with a strong versioning strategy to enhance business operations.
